        <p>[…] Denkt, wir hatten über den Sonntag <persName ref="kbga-actors-240">Kutter</persName> [zu Besuch]. […] Er führte ausgiebige Gespräche über Detektivromane, aus seinem Leben, europäische Politik — verhältnismäßig wenig über die inneren Fragen des Reiches Gottes. […] Umgekehrt las ich ihm <bibl corresp="kbga-bibls-1497">Römer 1-3</bibl> vor, er äußerte sehr freundliche Teilnahme und Einverstandenheit und ermunterte zur Fortsetzung. Und auch in meiner <ref type="pub" target="29045">Predigt über den ungerechten Richter</ref> <ref type="can" subtype="bible" target="Lk.18.1 Lk.18.8">Luk. 18 [1-8]</ref> wollte er seine «Welt» wiedererkennen. Ich bewunderte diesmal vor allem seine staunenswerte Intelligenz und geistige Arbeitskraft, mit denen er über Schützengräben und Granattrichter feuerspeiend hinwegpoltert wie jene englischen Automobilfestungen. Das macht ihm keiner nach, und es ist ja auch nicht nötig.[…]</p>
        <p>Die Arbeit an <ref type="can" subtype="bible" target="Röm.3">Röm. 3</ref> geht nächstens zu Ende. Ich wundere mich über die Exegeten, die den Zusammenhang dieses Kapitels <pb xml:id="p160" ed="pga"/> eigentlich alle übersehen haben. Oder ist es eine Tiftelei von mir, wenn ich die <foreign xml:lang="grc" rend="Ell">πίστις θεοῦ</foreign> 
               <ref type="can" subtype="bible" target="Röm.3.3">V. 3</ref> als Schlüssel des Ganzen ansehe? <persName ref="kbga-actors-240">Kutter</persName> zeigte mir gerade für meinen Versuch, <persName ref="kbga-actors-313">Paulus</persName> als Paulus zu ergründen, und für die Absicht, den Gegner in seiner eigenen Höhle aufzusuchen, etwas zu wenig Verständnis und wollte gerade auf meine mehr technischen Fragen nicht eingehen.</p>
